The committee of the Olimpic Games "Sochi-2014" has begun realization of the new ecological program. The aim is to create natural ornithological park in Imeretin Valley, near the place where will be held the Olimpic Games-2014. Creation of this protected area is included in the number of nature-protectng measures provided by the governmental program on the development of Sochi as a mountain resort.
The works on creation of the park go in close collaboration with the experts from NGOs, among which are WWF, department of Russian Geografical Society in Sochi and public ecological Council of Sochi.
New ornithological park will help to conserve the population of turtles in Imeretin Valley and to conserve one of the rarest species of fern in Europe.
The head of committee Dmitry Chernyshenko believes that the Olimpic Games-2014 will contribute to the improvement of ecology in Sochi and Krasnodar region.
